Getting started
For best results, please review all instructions before starting this process
Lay out stack of 6-8 pieces of 8 ½ X 11 white paper on countertop.
Set pre-inked paper set next to stack of white paper
Carefully, pull apart the pre-inked paper set by pulling top sheet away from the bottom sheet at one of the 4 corners.
Fold over the top sheet of pre-inked paper so that both inked sides are facing up, next to each other.
Instructions
Start with your right hand
Step 1: Lay your right hand on one of the two inked sheets of paper. Firmly, press on the back your hand so that your palm and fingers are pressed firmly into the ink. Lift your hand, with the sheet of inked paper still stuck to your hand, and press the inked paper into your hand. Your palm, fingers, finger tips should all be well coated with ink. Pull the inked paper off of your hand and set the inked paper aside.
Step 2: With your inked hand and fingers in a comfortable and natural position, press your hand onto the 8 ½ X 11 blank white paper. Roll your hand onto the paper beginning with the base of the palm, pressing as you push down through to the top of the hand, lower fingers, ending with the tops of the fingers. With your hand completely on the paper, press the back of your hand, fingers and finger tips so that a well inked print is left on the paper. Lift your hand, with the paper attached to your hand, gently press on the back of the paper so that the paper presses into the center of your palm, and your fingers. Pull the white paper off your hand and set it aside.
Step 3: Repeat step 2 on a 2nd piece of 8 ½ X 11 white paper so that you now have 2 prints of your hand.
Note: If you’d like to keep a copy of a print for your files, Repeat Step 2 again so that you have 3 prints of your hand.
Step 4: Print each finger tip pattern on the bottom of one of the two papers with your hand print. Starting with your thumb, place your thumb on the inked sheet of paper enough to cover the entire tip of your thumb. Take your inked thumb and press it onto one of sheets with your hand print starting at the lower left side of the print, under your palm print. Do not roll your inked fingers. Repeat this for each of your fingers. A print of your index finger tip pattern should be placed to the right of your thumb print, on the bottom of the page. Repeat with your middle finger next, then ring finger, then pinkie. (See enclosed example of hand and finger tip prints). Mark each finger as the example shows so I know each finger (T- Thumb, I = Index, M = Middle, R = Ring, P = Pinkie)
(thumb, index, middle, ring and pinkie)
Step 5: Using the example with the 4 finger tip patterns (loop, whorl, arch, tented arch), please identify the patterns on your finger tips (8 fingers and 2 thumbs). You may need a magnifying glass to see each of your finger prints. For each finger, let your eye start at the middle of the finger print pattern and move outward. The patterns are not at the tip of your finger but just below the tip on the upper segment of your fingers.
Above each of the ink prints of your finger tips, write the ‘type’ each print with:
L – Loop
W – Whorl
A – Arch
T – Tented Arch
Step 6: Wash hand with soap, warm water and a scrubbing pad.
Step 7: Repeat for Left hand starting with Step 1 using 2nd sheet of pre-inked velum paper.
Step 8: Write the following information on all sheets with hand prints:
First and last name
Date print taken
Location (city) where print was taken
Step 9: Write the following on only one printed sheet:
Mailing address (for the recording on CD)
City, Zip
Email address
